SLOW DOWN GINA, DANG!

So this morning as I was about to walk out of the door to head for work I thought, “Let me grab a muffin to eat on the way to work!”  So I grabbed the muffin and was heading  out of the door and realized that I had enough time to sit and really enjoy my muffin!  I sat my little cute self in my comfy chair and enjoyed every crumb of that muffin!  While I was sitting there I realized that some of our daily stress, becoming overwhelmed, and even anxiety we may feel comes from rushing! We do not make or take the time we need to get things done, get to places we need to go, or enjoy things that are supposed to bring us enjoyment.  We now live in a microwave world, meaning everything is done or at least we attempt to get them done in 30 seconds…5 minutes tops! We are rushing, getting those speeding tickets, half way doing things, missing the point, and not enjoying life because we are always rushing! Even when I was driving to work, I caught myself driving a little faster than I should and even thinking I need to get to work! I checked myself and said out loud, “GIRL YOU WOKE UP EARLY TODAY, YOU ENJOYED YOUR MUFFIN NOW TAKE YOUR TIME AND ENJOY YOUR RIDE TO WORK!” And you know what I did……I took my time and enjoyed my ride to work ANNNND still arrived a little early!  You are not enjoying life if you are constantly rushing, that’s called going through the motions-and if you are simply going through the motions, you are wasting time! You should get something out of everything you do, and if you aren’t then you need to rethink the time you put into that something or your approach to it !

How do you slow down and smell the roses you ask?  Just a few simple steps:

  1.  Plan in advance
  2. Pick out clothes the day before
  3. Wake up in enough time to get yourself ready, eat breakfast, etc.
  4. Take into account travel time and unforeseen traffic and leave in a timely manner that will get you to your destination at least 15 minutes from the set arrival time. (Remember it is better to be too early than 1 minute late)
  5. Do not schedule to many things in a day.  Be realistic with your time as well as others! (Time is money any way you look at it)
  6. Lastly live in the now! By this I mean whatever event you are at enjoy it! Your at work? Make your day productive, If you are driving or riding somewhere enjoy it, take in the scenery, have meaningful conversations if someone is with you! Put you cell phone away, get off of instagram and facebook and enjoy the moment!  You know other peoples fb and instagram status are interesting bc they were enjoying the moment! Yes they took candid pictures and videos and posted them ENJOYING THE MOMENT, but I’m sure it was not the entire time!  And I can tell you the best moments are probably not posted!

So I leave you with make everything you do count and enjoy it! Dang Gina or Gene, slow down and smell the roses
