Remember that song, “I always feel like, somebodies watching me!”? I proudly acknowledge that I am a Christian and I believe in God! However, I find that I am often judged for every little thing I say and do by people I see daily. I joke around a lot, I am dancer so I jokingly do a mild twerk (and when I say mild, I mean the only thing that moves is my knees) here and there and every time I get comments like, ” Look the Christian” “Go Jesus” or something of that nature that really offends me. Let’s be real we all have our moments where we slip or become angry and say something crazy (I’m still a work in progress!), but to be automatically condemned…Give me a break! It is as if they are constantly watching me (they really are watching me), waiting for me to do or say something they feel I shouldn’t do because I am a Christian. Being a Christian does not mean I have to be stuffy. I have recently realized that I have to eliminate a lot of things I think are harmless funnies and fun bc others don’t see it that way. Unfortunately, some people look for things and then run with it even though they know you are just playing around. They will use those things to try and discredit you. What also burns me up about this is that these are the very same people that will discourage someone who really wanted to begin their walk with God with their critical selves (and have no right to be!) My definition of a Christian is someone who believes in Jesus, plain and simple (btw, I googled it to make sure my definition is correct). Now, let me be honest and let you know that I have struggled with being a Christian for years because I thought it meant that I had to be perfect and I couldn’t make any mistakes, putting these expectations on myself that I could not live up to – being perfect. Talk about stressful! So I said all this to say, YOU ARE BEING WATCHED! PEOPLE WATCH WHAT YOU SAY AND DO! PEOPLE WANT TO MAKE SURE YOUR ACTIONS LINE UP WITH WORDS (YOUR CLAIM TO BE A CHRISTIAN!)
I will leave you with the response I give these haters(yes, I called them haters!) when they make those judgmental comments like I have to be perfect: We all fall short of the glory of God! I said I was a Christian not perfect, which means I strive to live my life according to God’s will and to be Christ like. However, I am realistic enough to know I am not perfect and I will never be! That normally takes the wind out of their sail and they begin to explain that they were just joking (yeah right!)

I totally hear you girl!! When one claims to be Christian doesn’t mean we are claiming to be Jesus. We are claiming we believe in Him. We were born sinners not perfectionist. So all you haters out there… “Stop watching me!”
Keep it up!!!!
